| Alex has been playing concerts in people's living rooms for the past couple of years, with no microphones and no amplification... just stories and songs, with Ike, Turtle and occasionally other musicians sitting in. Check out the video to see what the experience is all about, and let Stefanie know if you're interested in learning more. | |

"We hosted Alex for a house concert recently and put simply it was an amazing experience. Having the opportunity to not only listen to his songs in a very intimate setting but to interact with Alex and learn about how and why the songs were written provides you with an experience that you simply can't get in a larger environment. Ike Marr accompanied Alex for our show and played mandolin and violin. It is rare to be able to have such a talented singer/songwriter perform in your home and we would recommend it to anyone who appreciates live music. We attend many live music shows and this one was the highlight of 2009 for us." Chris and Kim Duncan, Atlanta House Concert Hosts "An Alex Woodard show is more than just a concert... it's like having a friend who is a great musician come and tell stories about the music world, his experiences, and how he comes up with his songs, and then listening to those songs... it's just an amazing, amazing thing to bring into your home." - Jim Heaton, San Diego House Concert Host "Alex, Ike, and Turtle mingled with the crowd in my apartment before launching into a fantastic set of live music. People are still talking about that party, still humming those songs in the operating room, and still wanting them to come back to Denver. Alex and the Naysayers are incredibly talented and play a show that is smart and interactive. Their music is mature, fun, heartfelt, and personal. Everyone can relate to Alex's stories of love, growing older, entering new phases in your life, and losing and finding your way." - Dr. Suzanne Yoder, Denver House Concert Host "Alex is one of the finest songwriters we've had the fortune to run across since we've been hosting our series. Better catch him while you can so you can say, 'I knew him when.'" - Jimbo Lattimore, Memphis House Concerts "The first time I heard about the concept of a 'House Concert' I was intrigued by the possibility of getting an award winning artist to come to a private home and play for an intimate group of close friends. I also had many questions: How much will it cost? How much time will I have to spend on it? How will Alex get from San Diego all the way to Atlanta, GA? From the very first phone call with Stefanie the process went extremely smooth. Alex is as laid back as they come and this sense of serenity came through during the entire time of putting the event together. Stefanie was always only a phone call away and was constantly available to answer any questions. The great thing about the House Concert concept is that the evening can be whatever the host wants it to be - from a small gathering of 10 friends in a living room to a larger group taking up a full basement. My own experience encompassed over 40 close friends with everyone bringing drink and food (picture a 'pot luck' theme). We spent time getting to know Alex prior to the show beginning and then, during the music, laughed and cried as he told the personal stories behind how each song came to be. Afterwards, he hung out to take pictures, autographed CDs and very easily became 'one of the group'. From requests to all of his originals, the evening was something that will always hold a special place for myself and all those in attendance that evening. It's an incredibly unique way to enjoy wonderful music: sitting in your living room, artist on a chair across from you and surrounded by those close to you. What could ever be better than that? If you decide to have a house concert, you will find there isn't too much out there that is. I can't wait to do it all again!" - Michael Jones, Atlanta House Concert Host | |
